The V8 is mated to a new nine-speed transmission and the all-wheel drive system has the capability to vary the amount of torque that goes to the front and rear wheels. The E63 S wagon features five different drive modes: Comfort, Sport, Sport +, RACE and Individual. These modes allow drivers to modify the response of the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, ESP and all-wheel-drive system. The driver also has the option of pressing the “M” button to switch directly to manual shifting mode and individual suspension settings can be selected.

In terms of styling, for the first time on an AMG wagon, the hood is inset between the fenders and bumper like on a coupe and the wheel arches are 1.1-inches wider to accommodate the greater track width and the larger wheels on the front axle. From the front, the bumper design was inspired by the design of a jet wing, with flics in black and a large front splitter. From the side more aggressive sill panels make the wagon appear to sit lower on the road and the rear end is finished with a sportier bumper chrome quad tailpipes.

Inside the steering wheel is covered in black nappa leather and the driver and front passenger will enjoy the extra lateral support from sport seats. AMG Performance Seats with integral head restraints can be ordered as an option. The interior is finished with nappa leather trim for the dashboard and beltlines, seat belts available in crystal grey and a steering wheel with a grey ’12-o’clock’ marking.
