Honda hasn’t announced the mpg specs for the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid, but the EPA has already posted its ratings for the new hybrid sedan. The 2018 Accord Hybrid is rated at 47 mpg in the city, 47 mpg on the highway and has a combined rating of 47 mpg. Those specs are down slightly from the last Accord Hybrid.
The last-generation Accord Hybrid was rated at 49 mpg in the city, 47 mpg on the highway and a combined rating of 48 mpg. We’re not entirely sure how the new 2018 Accord Hybrid managed to be less fuel efficient than its predecessor, especially considering the hybrid powertrain has greater than 40 percent thermal efficiency, the highest for any mass-produced Honda engine. The 2.0L hybrid system is Honda’s latest two-motor hybrid powertrain that has a combined output of 212 horsepower.
The 2018 Accord Hybrid does manage to beat the Ford Fusion Hybrid with its 43/41/42 mpg rating, but the Toyota Camry Hybrid LE beats the Accord at 51/53/52 mpg. If you do choose the Camry Hybrid over the Accord Hybrid, you’ll want to know that only the Camry Hybrid LE trim beats it, if you choose the XLE or SE models, they are rated at 44 mpg city, 47 mpg highway and 46 mpg combined.
