Ford is getting ready to jump into the hot compact SUV segment with its 2018 EcoSport – an SUV that Ford says is for “those who want space-saving convenience and SUV capability.” The EcoSport is already sold in other markets around the world, but Ford is giving the US-spec version a slight facelift.

“More people are choosing to spend their time and money sharing experiences with friends and family instead of buying more stuff,” said Chantel Lenard, ‎executive director, Ford U.S. marketing. “EcoSport fits perfectly into this growing lifestyle. It’s our smallest SUV, packed with features and personality.”
The EcoSport may be small on the outside, but it’s packed with plenty of features, like the 675-watt B&O PLAY audio system that features 10 speakers. It also features Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system and seven ambient lighting options.
Under the hood the 2018 EcoSport can be powered by either a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost or 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The 2.0-liter engine comes standard with 4WD and both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The EcoSport will go on sale in the US in early 2018. Yes even though it was revealed today, buyers in the US will still have to wait at least a year to get one.
