Ever since the Tesla Model S came on to the market in 2012, it’s been the poster child for electric cars – everyone wants one and almost every automaker wants to beat it. The Model S proved that electric cars can be livable, fun and luxurious. While the Model S is far out of reach for many car buyers with its $70k starting price, it is a strong alternative to the flagship sedans from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. With all the hype around the Model S and Tesla, is the Model S really that great? Here are the five things you need to know:
3A big screen, but not much else

Inside the interior is spacious and everyone will be distracted by the large tablet-like center console that controls nearly every function in the Model S. No other rival offers a screen that’s as big or as cool. A few taps will let you adjust the suspension settings, the climate control, select your music and your destination.
Beyond the large screen, the rest of the interior is a bit drab and somewhat of a let down. It’s comfortable, but the styling doesn’t feel as forward today as it did back in 2012 and it doesn’t feel as luxurious as the S-Class or 7 Series. There’s also a bit of unexpected wind noise and some of the interior materials could be a bit more luxurious.
