The Optima PHEV is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and a transmission-mounted 50 kW electric motor. The powertrain generates a combined 154-hp and sends the power to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its 9.8 kWH lithium-ion battery, the Optima PHEV can travel up to 27 miles in full EV mode, which is longer than many of its rivals. A full charge can be achieved in less-than three hours via a 240V charger, and less-than nine hours via a 120V charger.
The Optima PHEV will only be available in one trim level, EX and it is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year.
