Hyundai clearly has its eyes on the sportier side of the compact segment, since it has unveiled the all-new 2017 Elantra Sport, which is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged engine.
The Elantra Sport is powered by a 1.6 turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates more than 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. With more than 200 horsepower on tap, the Elantra Sport is the most powerful Elantra yet. The four-cylinder can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with paddle shifters. To make it even sportier, the Elantra Sport is exclusively outfitted with an independent multi-link rear suspension.

Hyundai didn’t just stop with the turbocharged engine and upgraded suspension, the Elantra Sport also get unique bodywork, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, sport seats and red contrast stitching throughout the interior.
“Elantra Sport demonstrates our commitment to providing drivers with compelling vehicle choices that align with their interests,” says Mike Evanoff, Hyundai Motor America manager of product planning. “This is a vehicle that reflects our own passion for cars and driving, expressing it with sharp looks, proven in-car technology, upgraded power, and fun, sporty handling.”
The 2017 Elantra Sport will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2016.
