The SRX is out and in its place Cadillac has introduced the Cadillac XT5 crossover. The XT5 is the beginning of a new range of crossovers from Cadillac, with the next one being a smaller XT3. But back to the XT5. Is it a worthy replacement for the SRX? Here are the top five things you need to know about the 2017 Cadillac XT5:

2Is there a V6 under the hood?

While the XT5 does look sportier than the old SRX, the standard 3.6L V6 is somewhat of a disappointment. On paper, the V6 generates 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft. of torque and is mated to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. A few years ago any car with over 300 horsepower was impressive, but in the XT5 the 3.6L V6 feels under powered and more like a hard working turbocharged four-cylinder than a large naturally aspirated V6.

Push it hard and you’re not really greeted with anything, other than some slight wheel spin from a stop, even with the all-wheel drive system. Once you’re at speed, the powertrain is relaxed and quiet, but try to merge quickly on the highway and the engine gets loud and feels a lot less refined than you’d expect.
