Inside, the sports seats are covered in Nubuck textile and perforated leather and there are other unique details like the special R-Design gearshift knob, pedals, floor mats and illuminated tread plates. The tablet-like touch screen in the center and a 12.3-inch fully graphical driver display are included in the R-Design. The driver display also features a unique R-Design theme.
There aren’t any changes under the hood with the T6 version being powered by a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0L four-cylinder with 316 horsepower. The T8 is also powered by a 2.0L, but the addition of a plug-in hybrid system boosts its power to 400 horsepower.
The 2016 XC90 is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. next spring.
