Toyota has announced the pricing for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma pickup, which now boasts a more rugged exterior, a more modern interior and a new V6.
The new Tacoma debuted earlier this year, which comes just in time as the midsize pickup segment is finally getting some attention with the arrival of the new Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon twins. To hopefully help it stand out and retain its title as the best-selling midsize pickup, Toyota gave the 2016 Tacoma a more aggressive exterior that borrows styling cues from the Tundra. Just take one look at that new grille.

Under the hood the new Tacoma offers a choice of the same 2.7L four-cylinder as the last one that generates 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft. of torque. If you want more power, the 2016 Tacoma also offers an all-new 3.5L Atkinson cycle V6. The V6 generates 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft. of torque. Both engines can be mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission. If you prefer to shift your own gears, the four-cylinder is also available with a five-speed manual and the six-cylinder is available with a six-speed manual.
Although the new Tacoma looks more truck-like than ever on the outside, inside it gets lots of new modern tech bits, like Qi wireless charging, push-button start, a moonroof and a blind-spot monitor.
The 2016 Tacoma will be available in 29 configurations with two cab types, the extended Access Cab and the four-door Double Cab. There are also five trim levels: RS, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited. Pricing starts at $24,200 with the destination fees included.
