The 2016 Tacoma gets new styling inside and out that enhance its rugged off-road personality. You’ll even see some styling cues from the larger Tundra, like its more chiseled face. Toyota states that the 2016 Tacoma is inspired by desert racing and CALTY designers in Newport Beach, Calif. and Ann Arbor, Mich. made the new Tacoma all about recreational action and athletic agility.

Inside the Tacoma’s “tough” theme continues, but there’s a host of new features that keep it up to date with the latest tech trends, like Qi wireless charging, Smart key with push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a touchscreen audio system and a blind-spot monitor. Toyota engineers also made the new Tacoma quieter than ever with more seals, a multi-layer acoustic windshield and a floor silencer pad.

Under the hood the 2016 Tacoma continues to offer a four-cylinder and a more powerful V6 engine. The 2.7L returns, while the old 4.0L V6 is out and in its place is a 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle V6. Both engines will be paired to a new six-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 can also be mated to a new six-speed manual transmission.
