Mazda is going to take the wraps off the all-new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata next month, but a camouflaged prototype was recently caught testing in Japan.
The next-generation MX-5 Miata is going to look quite different from the current model and from this short video we can see that it will get a more angular rear end. The next MX-5 Miata’s profile will keep its bulging fenders and it’s being reported that the front end will get an oval grille that will recall the design of the original Miata.

The 2016 MX-5 Miata will ride on a new platform with lighter materials that will help it drop around 200 pounds compared to the current model. Under the hood it’s expected that a 1.5L four-cylinder will power the rear wheels.
