GM is currently working on the second-generation Chevy Volt, which is going to arrive next year as a 2016 model. The 2016 Chevy Volt will switch to a new platform, but its styling will be more evolutionary, so don’t expect it to be drastically different from today’s Volt.

Even though the Volt will switch to a new platform there isn’t any news if the Volt will get a new powertrain. Currently the Volt is powered by a 1.4L four-cylinder engine that powers a generator that recharges the lithium-ion batteries. We’ll also have to wait and see if the 2016 Volt gets a longer EV driving range.
