When Cadillac announced plans to release the new CT6 flagship sedan, there were hopes and rumors that it would be inspired by the Elmiraj concept, but now Cadillac has confirmed that, that is not the case.
The Elmiraj concept debuted in 2013 as a potential future flagship coupe, but even though the Elmiraj’s sexy lines were loved, the CT6 will not get a radical new design direction. The CT6 is set to debut next spring with the same art and science design theme as the rest of Cadillac’s lineup.

“It’ll be different and it will certainly stand out in the portfolio,” GM global design boss Ed Welburn said in an interview this month. “But you won’t see a real shift in direction.”

There are still hopes that the Elmiraj concept will influence a future Cadillac model. Welburn also stated, “I think Elmiraj was more of an influence on some other things we’re working on for Cadillac.”
