We’re still about a year away until the Acura NSX returns, but we’ve recently learned some details about Acura’s performance targets for the new NSX. NSX development chief Ted Klaus recently revealed that Acura is targeting performance that will be similar to the Ferrari 458, but with a price tag that is closer to the cheaper Audi R8.
This isn’t the first time that Acura has benchmarked a Ferrari, since the original NSX sought to achieve the same performance as the Ferrari 328 and 348 when it was conceived in the late 1980s.

“We have to achieve the type of acceleration that the customer is achieving with the Ferrari,’ said Klaus. ‘More importantly we have to achieve this every day and also at the Nurburgring.”
The NSX will be powered by a hybrid system that pairs a V6 engine with three electric motors. The NSX is expected to debut at next year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
