Volkswagen has just announced that the e-Golf, its first fully electric vehicle to go on sale in the U.S. will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week. The 2015 e-Golf is going to arrive in the U.S. in late 2014. The e-Golf, which is based on the all-new Golf, will only be offered as a five-door, but its unique aluminum-alloy wheels and LED headlights will stand it apart from the other Golf models.
The e-Golf is powered by a 115-horsepower electric motor. The e-Golf will reach 0-60 mph in approximately 10.4 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited to 87 mph. VW estimates that it will have a driving range between 70-90 miles. It will take around 4 hours to recharge on a 220-volt outlet, but can be charged up to 80 percent in around 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.
