Volvo is going to officially unveil the all-new 2015 Volvo XC90 next month, but Volvo has already shown off its interior, powertrains and now we’re getting a preview of its new safety technology.
Volvo says that the 2015 XC90 will be “one of the safest cars in the world” with a new standard safety package that includes two world first safety technologies: a run-off road protection package and auto brake at intersection capability.

Run-off Road protection: The XC90 will feature Lane Keeping Aid technology to keep drivers in their lane and prevent a “run-off road” situation, but if it does happen the Safe Positioning capability detects what is happening and the front safety belts are tightened to keep the occupants in position. To help prevent spine injuries, energy-absorbing functionality between the seat and seat frame cushions the vertical forces that can arise when the car encounters a hard landing in the terrain.
Auto brake at intersections: The XC90 is the first car in the world with technology that features automatic braking if the driver turns in front of an oncoming car. The all-new Volvo XC90 detects a potential crash and brakes automatically in order to avoid a collision or mitigate the consequences of a crash.
