After teasing us with the 500-hp Polestar S60 concept, Volvo has announced that it is putting the S60 and V60 Polestar models into production. Unfortunately the production version doesn’t have the concept’s 508-hp engine, but with 350 horsepower under the hood the 2015 S60 and V60 Polestar models still pack a nice punch and will reach 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds.
“We are proud to present the S60 and V60 Polestar. A car developed for those who share our passion at Polestar: That driving really matters and that a true driver’s car should enable you to enjoy driving all year, on all roads and in all weather conditions. This is a driver’s car for real life,” said Christian Dahl, CEO of Polestar.
Both the S60 and V60 Polestar are powered by a turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder engine that generates 350 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. The six-cylinder is mated to a six-speed automatic and the Polestar developed Haldex four-wheel drive system.
Based on the standard S60/ V60 models, the S60 and V60 Polestar get a long list of modifications. Stiffer springs tighten up the suspension, while new Brembo brakes improve the overall braking performance. The amount of downforce has also been increased thanks to new front splitters that optimize the airflow underneath the car, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffuser.
Volvo hasn’t announced the pricing for the 2015 S60 and V60 Polestar models, but they will arrive in the U.S. by next summer.
