Mercedes-Benz officially introduced the world to the all-new 2015 C-Class last month at the Detroit Auto Show, but the top C63 AMG was missing from the stage. We will have to wait until the Paris Motor Show in September to see the 2015 C63 AMG, but some early details have already leaked out.
The 2015 C63 AMG is going to be powered by a new twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 that will send its power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. The 4.0L V8 (M117) is a new engine that shares its architecture with the twin-turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. Final specs haven’t been released, but insiders suggest that the 4.0L V8 could have somewhere around 480 horsepower, which will be a bump over the 451-hp 6.2L V8 in the last C63 AMG. 480 horsepower would easily top the 2015 BMW M3, which only has 425 horsepower and the 450 horsepower Lexus RC F.

Unfortunately if you were hoping that the next C63 AMG would get an all-wheel-drive system, there are no plans for it. AMG boss Tobias Moers dropped the bad news at the Detroit Auto Show, “you should never say never, but for the foreseeable future, we will not offer it on the C63 AMG, either as standard or as an option.”
