Audi has announced that its first plug-in hybrid model, the 2015 A3 Sportback e-tron will go on sale in spring 2014.
Audi has announced that its first plug-in hybrid model, the 2015 A3 Sportback e-tron will go on sale in spring 2014. The A3 Sportback e-tron is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that gives the A3 a range up to 37 miles in electric mode.
The five-door A3 Sportback e-tron is powered by a 150 horsepower 1.4 TFSI engine that is mated to a 75 kW electric motor. The plug-in hybrid system puts out a total 204 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. It reaches 0-62 mph in 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 138 mph. A3 Sportback e-tron is rated at 156 mpg on the EU cycle and has a total driving range of 553 miles.
Audi hasn’t announced its U.S. plans for the model, but in Germany it will start at 37,000 euros.
