This week Land Rover officially unveiled the all-new 2013 Range Rover, but now details are starting to surface about the next Range Rover Sport. The next Range Rover Sport will arrive by the end of next year as a 2014 model.

The biggest change will be switching the next Range Rover Sport to the same platform that is used by the new Range Rover. The 2013 Range Rover is 700 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, thanks to its aluminum unibody, so you can expect the next Sport to also lose weight.

In addition to the aluminum platform, the Sport will also be powered by the same engines as the new Range Rover, including the new diesel-hybrid powertrain. According to Land Rover engineers, the next Sport will also be more agile and “car like” to drive than the current model. It’s also being reported that Land Rover will release five- and seven-passenger versions of the next Range Rover Sport.
