Mazda has taken the wraps off the all-new 2014 Mazda3 sedan, although we’ve already seen several leaked photos of the sedan. The Mazda3 sedan is slightly longer than the hatchback, but rides on the same wheelbase, which is just over 2-inches longer than the current Mazda3.
In Europe buyers will have a choice of a 1.5L or 2.0L gas engine in addition to a new diesel sengine. In the US we get the choice of either a 155-hp SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine or a new 184-hp SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter engine. The engines can be mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Mazda has yet to announce the fuel economy specs, but the EPA has released that the Mazda3 hatchback with the 2.0L engine is rated at 30 city and 40 highway with the six-speed automatic.
Now that Mazda has unveiled both the sedan and hatchback versions of the new Mazda3, there is only one model left that we are waiting to hear about, the Mazdaspeed3. Mazda hasn’t announced any details about the Mazdaspeed3, but Auto Express is reporting that it is in the works. What is interesting is the fact that the next Mazdaspeed3 is reportedly going to not get a turbocharged engine, but instead it will get a higher revving version of the 2.0L engine with around 200 horsepower.
