The current Honda Civic has done well for Honda, but next year Honda will release an all-new Civic.

The 2012 Civic will be more of an evolutionary redesign, which has been proven by the various spy photos that have been floating around. According to Inside Line, Honda is going to significantly improve the Civic Hybrid in hopes of taking sales away from the popular Toyota Prius. The next Civic Hybrid will use Honda’s current IMA hybrid system, but the gas engine will move up to 1.5 liters from the current 1.3 liter engine. The hybrid will also be Honda’s first hybrid to get lithium-ion batteries, which will significantly improve the hybrid’s “electric only” range.

The 2012 Civic is expected to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January with sales starting in Q1 of 2011.
