Audi is finally intent on offering its high-performance RS line here in the U.S. Following the release of the 2012 TT RS, Audi has officially announced that the second RS model headed to the U.S. will be the 2012 RS5.

The 2012 RS5 is the most powerful A5 available and is pwoered by a 4.2L V8 that is related to the V10 that does duty in the R8 supercar. The 4.2L FSI V8 packs 450 horsepower and 317 lb-ft. of torque. The V8 is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system. According to Audi the RS5 reaches 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 174 mph.

One interesting feature on the 2012 RS5 is the fact that the front fascia will only have one fog light. It does look a little off, but the RS5 does get standard xenon headlights with daytime LED running lights.
