Cadillac’s gas-guzzling SUV is about to get gas-saving technology that will hopefully help improve its image. Spy photographers have caught the upcoming hybrid version testing in Nevada. Unlike the upcoming Tahoe and Yukon hybrids, the Escalade will not get specific styling to differentiate it from the regular gas powered version.
Instead of different styling, the hybrid Escalade will only receive specific badges that will denote it as a hybrid, such as a large green “hybrid” label on the tachometer.
The basic hybrid powertrain in the Escalade will feature two electric motors that will assist the V8 engine. The technology will improve gas mileage by 25 percent.
The new Escalade Hybrid is expected to be released sometime this fall.
