Acura has announced that the 2015 Acura TLX GT race car will make its Pirelli World Challenge competition debut at the May 30-June 1 Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix double-header race weekend. The TLX GT, which is based on the 2015 TLX, will race in the top category against cars like the Audi R8 LMS, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLS, Nissan GTR, Porsche 911 and Ferrari 458.

Following the confirmation that the Honda Insight hybrid is being discontinued, Honda has announced that it is committed to expanding its hybrid lineup. Honda hasn't revealed any details, but does say that it plans to expand its two-motor hybrid system that is currently offered in the 2014 Accord Hybrid.

After several rumors and reports that the Honda Insight is being discontinued in Europe, Honda has now confirmed that the Insight hybrid will be leaving the U.S. market as well. The Insight has never been able to put even a small dent in Toyota Prius sales and slow sales means that it will be gone after the 2014 model year.

Slow sales of the Honda Insight and CR-Z hybrids have prompted Honda to stop selling them in Europe. Last year Honda only sold 1,242 Insights and 695 CR-Zs in Europe, which were both down over 60 percent from the prior year. Honda will now just sell off its remaining stock of Insights and CR-Zs.

Acura is reportedly working on a new convertible version of its upcoming NSX supercar. Honda's Principal Designer Jun Goto recently confirmed that the convertible is in the beginning stages. "We are looking at the convertible," Goto stated. "But we have a long way to go with it."

Honda has announced that the 2014 Honda Civic is getting more upgrades and changes, which is the second year in a row that Honda has given the current Civic significant updates, since it was introduced in 2012. Next spring Acura is going to release the 2014 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, which features a new 377-hp three-motor hybrid system. The RLX is the first Acura model to feature the new 377-hp hybrid system, which combines a V-6 engine with a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission with built-in electric motor and an electrically powered variant of Acura's torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
