Acura has announced that it has started production of the refreshed 2016 Acura ILX, which was revealed in November at the LA Auto Show. The 2016 ILX gets styling updates, a new powertrain and more equipment inside. In addition to the new ILX, Acura is also celebrating the 2 millionth North American-made Acura vehicle, 20 years after Acura production began in the U.S.

Tokyo has set a goal of putting 6,000 vehicles on the road by the 2020 Olympics, which will see the city spend up to $385 million on fuel cell vehicle subsidies and hydrogen stations. Tokyo plans to build 35 stations and is in negotiations with Toyota and Honda, since both automakers plan to release new fuel-cell vehicles within the next year.

This week two supercars debuted at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show - one was expected, but another stole the show. It had been rumored that Ford was working on a new GT supercar and Ford started the Detroit Auto Show off with a bang by pulling the covers off the new GT, unfortunately the dust hadn't settled by the time that Acura pushed the start button on the 2016 NSX. For the most part it seemed that most of the media at the show was more excited about the Ford GT, but Acura may have something else up its sleeve to put the NSX on top - the NSX Type-R.

We're still about a year away until the Acura NSX returns, but we've recently learned some details about Acura's performance targets for the new NSX. Honda has announced that the 2015 Honda Fit has been named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS, but it wasn't an easy feat. Back in March an early production 2015 Fit was tested, but it only received a marginal score in the small overlap test, which would have prevented it from receiving the top safety rating. Honda's engineers responded quickly and made a design change to fix the issue.
