Bentley has taken the wraps off the EXP 9 F luxury Sport Utility Vehicle concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. According to Bentley, the EXP 9 F is a glimpse of the future of Bentley. "The Company's designers and engineers have created a compelling new take on the Grand Touring Bentley - a vehicle that feels equally at home at an opera gala performance, on the sand dunes and the overtaking lane of the autobahn."
"We are very excited by the potential of a high performance, ultra-luxury Bentley SUV. We know that many Bentley customers already own SUVs, admiring their style, luxury, performance and versatility. With EXP 9 F, Bentley is making a clear statement of intent that we have both the expertise and desire to meet and exceed their expectations." Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors.
"EXP 9 F had to represent the absolute pinnacle of the sport utility sector, setting a new benchmark for this type of vehicle. The style had to reflect Bentley's sporting character despite its radically different package and purpose together with sculptured, flowing surfaces in keeping with the Bentley tradition."
The exterior of the EXP 9 F applies traditional Bentley styling cues like its matrix grille and round head lights to an SUV. The designers were inspired not only by the more functional nature of EXP 9 F but by the "visible engineering" of the famous Blower Bentleys. For example, the day-time running lamp apertures also act as the charge cooler air intakes for the twin-turbo W12 engine, each with a dramatic, mesh-covered turbine fan design and "rifled" inner surface finish.
It's already been reported that Bentley is hard at work on a new SUV for its lineup. Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer recently confirmed to Autocar that the SUV will be powered by a 12-cylinder engine.
"We will be first to use a 12-cylinder petrol engine in a luxury SUV. I like this idea; it makes clear whose car is the boss."
The 12-cylinder engine will most likely be a revised version of the W12 engine that powers the Continental line (above). Although Dürheimer confirmed that the Bentley SUV will get a 12-cylinder gasoline engine, it's possible that it will also get a 12-cylinder diesel engine as well.
The Bentley SUV is expected to launch in 2015.
The GTC is powered by the same 6.0L 12-cylinder engine as the coupe. It packs 567 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system with a 40:60 rear torque bias. All that power accelerates the GTC from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and it has a top speed of 195 mph.
The second-generation GTC rides on 20-inch wheels and features an interior that is more spacious and luxurious than the first model. Buyers can choose between a range of wood veneers and leather colors.
"The GTC has always been the most emotional model in the Continental range and a showcase for Bentley design. With its tailored soft top, the GTC is a pure British convertible true to those classic Bentleys of the past. However, the technology, performance and overall design excellence invested in this model means that we are now writing a new chapter for the Bentley convertible driver." -Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors.
Currently the Bentley Continental GT is only powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0L W12 engine, but sources claim that Bentley is set to debut a new engine at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The Continental GT is going to get a new 4.0L V8, which will be sold alongside the W12 in the lineup. Bentley hasn't released the official specs, but it's being reported that the lighter and more fuel efficient engine provides a more sporting character than the 567-hp W12.
Before the V8 powered Continental GT is unveiled, Bentley is slated to debut the GTC convertible at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The first model will be a five-door coupe version of the Contintental GT. It was originally thought that the five-door would be based on the same platform as the Audi A7 and upcoming A9, but instead it is going to be based on the next-generation Panamera. Power will come from a revised W12 engine with around 600-hp, a new turbocharged 4.0L V8 and a diesel.
Next is a crossover that will be based on the Porsche Cayenne. The Bentley crossover would be based on the Porsche, but would have the same engines as the five-door coupe.
The last model is a new coupe that would fit in below the Contintental GT in the Bentley range. It would mainly compete with the Maserati GranTurismo and Mercedes SL63 AMG.
We're going to have to wait a bit to see any of these models, which won't arrive until the next Panamera in 2015.
Apparently every luxury automaker wants a piece of the four-door coupe market. Aston Martin, Porsche, BMW and even Audi all already have one or one is in the works, so it's only natural that Bentley release one too. The four-door coupe take styling cues from the Continental GT and be smaller inside than the Flying Spur and Mulsanne. It will share its platform with the new Audi A7 Sportback and the next Audi A6. A 4.0L turbocharged V8 will power the coupe, which will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.

"Even at this very early stage, the expression of interest we've received easily exceeds our 2010 production targets. Mulsanne's credentials are a pure expression of Bentley design and craftsmanship, and that's struck a chord with Bentley enthusiasts as well as many of the potential customers we have welcomed for tours in Crewe this year. We've been encouraged by the positive commentary, notably from our American customers as the Mulsanne was privately previewed in seven metro markets across the country."
Bentley hasn't released the official name of the car or any specs. According to Bentley the car will be Bentley's fastest, most powerful production car to date that also happens to run on biofuel.
Currently the most powerful car in the Bentley lineup is the Continental GT Speed with 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque. So you can expect even higher numbers for this car.
The Azure T is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6¾-liter V8 that puts out 500 horsepower and 737 lb-ft. of torque. This is an 11 percent improvement in horsepower and 14 percent improvement in torque over the lesser powered Azure. 0-60 mph comes in a fast (considering its weight) 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 179 mph.
The exterior of the Azure T features 20-inch five-spoke 'Bright Finish' alloy wheels, retractable 'Flying B' bonnet mascot, dark tint matrix upper and lower grilles, 'Le Mans' lower front wing air vents, and a Bentley 'Jewel' fuel filler cap.
