2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo to Reach 0-60 MPH in 2 Secs?


Our friends over at Auto Express are reporting that Nissan is going to unveil the fastest production car ever when the GT-R Nismo debuts at the Tokyo Motor Show in November? How fast will it actually be? Well if the reports are true, the GT-R Nismo will be able to reach 0-60 mph in an insanely fast two seconds.

Lexus is working hard to revamp its lineup, but one model that has been missing, is a seven seater crossover, which would compete with models like the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60. Lexus currently offers the body-on-frame GX SUV, but its expected that it will disappear from the Lexus lineup in 2016 and will be replaced by a new seven-seater crossover dubbed the TX.

Chrysler Delays the Media Launch of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee


Chrysler has already announced plans to delay the arrival of the controversially styled 2014 Jeep Cherokee and now the automaker has delayed the media launch. Next month Chrysler was supposed to hold the media event for the Cherokee in Seattle, which would give journalists their first experience behind the wheel of the Cherokee, but the event has now been delayed until sometime in September.

Ford Turns the 2014 F-150 into a Natural Gas Pickup


Ford has announced that the 2014 F-150 will be available with the ability to run on compressed natural gas. The 2014 Ford F-150 with 3.7-liter V6 engine will be available this fall with a factory-installed, gaseous-fuel prep package that includes hardened valves, valve seats, pistons and rings so it can operate on either natural gas or gasoline.

Audi has released the pricing for the 2014 Audi RS 7, which starts at $104,900. The RS 7 is officially the most powerful RS model ever offered in the US thanks to its 560-hp twin-turbo 4.0 TFSI V8 engine that gives the RS 7 a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds and a top track speed of 174 mph.

VW Launches the VW Car-Net in Car Assistance System


VW has announced the introduction of VW Car-Net, a new in-car system that offers a number of convenience and diagnostics features, in addition to services that help customers feel safe and secure. Beginning in the 2014 model year, VW Car-Net will be introduced on select trims of Jetta, Passat, Tiguan, CC, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, and Eos models.


Honda says that it has topped all mainstream automakers in percentage of sales to retail buyers during the first five months of 2013, with more than 98 percent of Honda's auto sales in the U.S. sold to individual (non-fleet) consumers. Honda's four best-selling models, Accord, Civic, CR-V and Odyssey, lead their respective segments in sales to retail consumers.

Mercedes-Benz GL Coupe in the Works?


It's being reported that Mercedes-Benz is working on a new coupe-like version of the GL SUV that would go head to head with the upcoming BMW X7 and Audi Q8, which are crossover coupes that are expected to arrive before the end of the decade. Autobild is reporting that the coupe version of the GL, dubbed the GLC would be a five-door crossover with a sleeker roofline than the current GL.


Toyota is going to increase production of the Highlander crossover in late 2014 with a $30 million investment in Princeton. The project will create more than 200 new jobs at Toyota's plant in Indiana (TMMI), with new team members helping to increase production volume by 15,000 units.

Toyota Has No Plans to Discontinue its Truck-Based SUVS


SUV buyers continue to ditch their old school body-on-frame SUVs for more refined crossovers, but even if the trend continues Toyota has no plans to discontinue its lineup of truck-based SUVS. Toyota currently offers the FJ Cruiser, 4Runner, Sequoia and Land Cruiser, which Toyota says still have sufficient demand to keep them alive.

Nissan Drops the Price of the 2014 370Z by $3,130 to $29,990


Nissan has announced the pricing for the 2014 370Z and although most models usually go up in price each year, Nissan is doing the opposite by actually lowering the price of the 370Z. The 2014 370Z now starts under $30k at $29,990, which is $3,130 lower than the 2013 model.

Honda has announced that a prototype of the new NSX will take to the racetrack just prior to the Honda Indy 200 IndyCar Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Aston Martin Partners With Mercedes-Benz to Access AMG Tech


Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG have signed a Letter of Intent for a proposed deal between both automakers that will give Aston Martin access to Mercedes-AMG V8 engines and other technical components.


The Detroit News is reporting that Chrysler is going to extend the lives of the current Dodge Avenger, Grand Caravan and Jeep Wrangler. The new report is a big change from the earlier product plan.

Mazda has released the pricing for the all-new 2014 Mazda3, which arrives this fall starting at $16,945. The new Mazda3 is wrapped in an all-new body that has been designed using Mazda's new KODO "Soul of Motion" design language and gets new technology like Mazda's capacitor-based regenerative engine braking i-ELOOP system.


Infiniti has announced the pricing for the 2014 Infiniti QX80 (formally known as the Infiniti QX56) and the 2014 Infiniti QX50 (formerly known as the Infiniti EX). The QX50 starts at $34,400, which is $2,500 below the 2013 model and the QX80 starting price remains unchanged at $61,350.

2014 BMW i3 Photos Leak Ahead of its Debut Next Week


Earlier this week BMW released the pricing for the 2014 BMW i3 electric vehicle, which starts at $41,350 before any state or federal tax credits are applied. BMW is going to officially unveil the i3 next week, but the first photos have already leaked online.


The next-generation Ford F-150 is expected to enter production in July 2014 and to prevent any supply disruptions, Ford is going to continue producing the current F-150 alongside the new one for at least six months. The F-150 is the top-selling vehicle in the U.S., so Ford doesn't want to risk any production hiccups that could put that title in jeopardy.

Fiat Turns the Fiat 500 into a Boat


Fiat has created three special versions of the Fiat 500, which are built on top of a high-powered personal watercraft for the 2013 Vans U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif. A Fiat 500 in Rame (orange), Fiat 500 Cabrio in Bianco Perla (pearl white) and a Fiat 500 Abarth in Rosso (red) glided across the surface of the Pacific, entertaining thousands of surf fans during the competition's opening day. Fiat has also built a watercraft version of the all-new Fiat 500L.


GM CEO Dan Akerson has confirmed the automaker's plans for a larger Cadillac sedan that will sit above the XTS in Cadillac's lineup. Akerson recently visited USA Today's headquarters where he confirmed that the new sedan will arrive within the next two years.

Bentley Gives the Green Light to a New SUV


Bentley has officially announced that it is going to produce a new SUV, which will be produced in Crewe and will go on sale in 2016. The new SUV will be Bentley's fourth model and it will create over 1,000 jobs in the UK.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision Golf Cart, which is the result of a competition in which golf and car fans submitted ideas for a Mercedes-Benz golf cart of the future. Building on the basis provided by these ideas and concepts, and due consideration to the Mercedes-Benz design strategy, the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Center in Carlsbad, California, developed the Mercedes-Benz Vision Golf Cart. The cart combines the aspects of Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the functionality of a golf cart.

2014 Chevy Sonic Gets New Limited-Edition Colors


The 2014 Chevy Sonic is going to get two new limited-edition colors with the first one being a chromatic plum color called Deep Magenta Metallic. The plum exterior will be available from August through October. After that a new greyish, dirty blue color dubbed Cool Blue will be available on the Sonic from November until March 2014.

Honda Teases a New MPV Ahead of its Debut in Indonesia


Honda has released a teaser of a new MPV that is going to debut at the Indonesia Motor Show in September. The new Honda MPV was developed specifically for the Asian market by Honda in Thailand. This model will be the first Honda product in Indonesia to be introduced to the entry level MPV segment.

Infiniti has announced the pricing for the 2014 QX70 and QX60 crossovers. Just in case you missed the announcement, the QX70 is formally known as the Infiniti FX and the QX60 is the former JX. The QX70 doesn't get any big changes for the 2014 model year, but the QX60 will now be available with a hybrid powertrain.

The VW Phaeton is Headed Back to the U.S. Next Year


It's been seven years since VW pulled the plug on the Phaeton luxury sedan in the US, but Automotive News is reporting that VW is going to try it again. VW reportedly wants to tap into the large luxury sedan market, so it plans on bringing back the Phaeton. "A brand as large as Volkswagen needs a halo project in the upscale segment," CEO Martin Winterkorn told Bloomberg this month, where he confirmed that the Phaeton will return to U.S. "We've seen what happens to brands that don't have that kind of project."

VW Prices the Limited-Edition 2014 Beetle GSR at $29,995


VW has announced the pricing of the 2014 Beetle GSR, which will start at $29,995 with a six-speed manual transmission and at $31,095 with the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. The Beetle GSR is inspired by the GSR ("Yellow Black Racer") of the 1970s with its yellow-and-black color scheme. The car has yellow/black stripes with "GSR" lettering above the side skirts and a large rear spoiler to complete the look. The GSR rides on 19-inch "Tornado" alloy wheels and also features black-painted brake calipers.

2014 Chevy Corvette Arrives in Europe (Video)


Chevy is currently testing the new 2014 Corvette Stingray in Europe over the next few months. GM has released this video that features Patrick Herrmann, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe who is the first person to thoroughly test the new Stingray in Europe before it arrives in European showrooms in late 2013.


Mercedes-Benz has unwrapped the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG 4MATIC, which is going to arrive in showrooms in November. The high-performance version of the new S-Class is powered by a 5.5L V8 biturbo engine with 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque.

2015 Mazda2 Shows Up in a Japanese Magazine


Mazda has been hard at work revamping its entire lineup with new models like the CX-5, the Mazda6 sedan and most recently the 2014 Mazda3, which arrives this fall. With most of its current lineup being redesigned that leaves the Mazda2 hatchback as one of the oldest models in the Mazda lineup. Well Mazda2 fans won't have to wait to long for the next-generation. This magazine scan from a magazine in Japan possibly gives us our first look at the next Mazda2.


After a slow start out of the gate, now Nissan has the opposite problem with the Nissan Leaf EV - Nissan can't build enough. Nissan is now selling around 2,000 units a month, which quadruple the number of Leaf's that were selling a year ago. Last year's slow sales prompted critics to quickly label the Leaf EV as a failure, but thanks to the updates for the 2013 model year, Nissan can't keep the Leaf in dealer showrooms.


Nissan has announced that the limited production 2014 Nissan GT-R Special Edition package with a hand-painted "Midnight Opal" exterior will start at $105,590, which is a $6,000 increase over the GT-R Premium model. Only 50 units will be sent to the US with sales starting in September.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Production Could Move to Mexico


Mercedes-Benz may move production of the next-generation CLA to a Nissan plant in Mexico according to Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche. Zetsche told Automotive News that a decision could be decided as early as next year if production will move to Nissan's plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, beginning in 2018.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe V6 Gets the Limited-Edition HFP Package


Honda has announced that the limited-edition Honda Factory Performance (HFP) package for the 2013 Honda Accord Coupe V6 is now available. The HFP package was originally unveiled at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas and adds things like a sport suspension, 19-inch wheels and a decklid spoiler.

Mercedes-Benz Teases the 2014 S63 AMG (Video)


Mercedes-Benz has released a teaser video of the next S63 AMG sedan, which will be powered by a Biturbo V8 engine with around 540 horsepower and 600 lb-ft. of torque. All that power will be enough for a 0-60 mph sprint in under five seconds.

Datsun Officially Returns With the Datsun GO

Nissan has officially brought back Datsun with today's debut of the all-new Datsun GO, which will be on sale in India in early 2014. The Datsun GO is designed for customers in high-growth markets and its name is inspired by the first Datsun, the DAT-GO, which launched almost a century ago in Japan. Datsun models will be individually developed for different markets, but the concept will follow a common inspiration. Datsun GO will be the first of several Datsun models that will be launched later in 2014 in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.


Honda is expected to end production of the current Honda Ridgeline pickup in September 2014, according to industry sources. It was originally expected that the current Ridgeline would stay in production until the next-generation Ridgeline arrives in 2016, but now it looks like there will be a nearly two year gap between the two generations.


Nickelodeon and Toyota have teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind Toyota Highlander for SpongeBob SquarePants fans. The SpongeBob 2014 Toyota Highlander will feature a custom SpongeBob-themed exterior and an interior design that captures all of the beloved character's high-octane energy.

Bentley Continental GT3

Bentley is unveiling the new Continental GT3 race car at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed today. The track ready Continental GT3 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 600 horsepower that is mated to an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox with a limited slip differential.

Tesla Model S Production Now Exceeds 400 a Week


Tesla is now reportedly producing more than 400 Model S sedans a week, which is more than the automaker's initial goal according to CEO Elon Musk. "We're above 400 a week at the current manpower, and not trivially above it," Musk said.


Mazda has taken the wraps off the all-new 2014 Mazda3 sedan, although we've already seen several leaked photos of the sedan. The Mazda3 sedan is slightly longer than the hatchback, but rides on the same wheelbase, which is just over 2-inches longer than the current Mazda3.

Kia Builds its One Millionth Vehicle in the U.S.

Kia is celebrating the production of its one millionth vehicle in the U.S. - a white 2014 Sorento SXL, which rolled off its assembly line in West Point, Georgia. Production of the Sorento began at the plant in 2009 after an initial investment of $1 billion.

GM Plans to Double its Number of 40 MPG Vehicles by 2017


General Motors is planning on doubling the number of vehicles in its lineup that have over 40 MPG from four to eight by 2017. GM currently has the the Chevrolet Cruze Eco, Sonic, Volt and Spark EV that all get over 40 MPG and in the near future the Chevy Cruze Diesel and 2014 Cadillac ELR will join the list.


The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the 2013 Toyota RAV4 has received a "poor" rating in the IIHS small overlap front crash test. According to the IIHS a combination of poor structure and inadequate control of the dummy's movement prevented the RAV4 from earning a better rating.

The 2013 Ram Black Express is distinguished by its all-black exterior that includes 20-inch black aluminum wheels, a black front fascia with fog lamps, black grille surround with black hex-link inserts, black rear bumper and black Ram's head badges on the grille and tailgate.

Ford Drops the Price for the 2014 Focus Electric


The Ford Focus Electric's sales have failed to light up, with Ford only selling 177 units last month. The Focus Electric's main competitors have also gotten cheaper this year, so Ford is responding by dropping the price of the 2014 Focus Electric by $4,000 to $35,995.

BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor

BMW has unveiled the Concept Active Tourer Outdoor, which is a new take on the Active Tourer concept that was unveiled last fall. The Concept Active Tourer Outdoor is designed for buyers that have a more active, sporty lifestyle.


Although Mercedes-Benz has not officially revealed the 2014 S500 plug-in hybrid, the automaker has held a quiet event for its newest hybrid. Luckily Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog was at the event and has posted some photos from the event and early information.


VW has announced that a new 1.8L TSI four-cylinder engine is going to replace the old 2.5L five-cylinder in the Beetle, Jetta and Passat. This new engine produces 170 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque: this is the same power as the 2.5, but the torque is improved by seven lb-ft, delivered much lower in the rev range.

BMW has released the full specs for the i3, which is going to be unveiled on July 29. The electric i3, which is the first model from BMW's new sub-brand will come in two versions: a fully electric version or a version with an electric motor and a two-cylinder range extender.

Jeep Cherokee SRT in the Works?


According to sources that spoke with Allpar, Chrysler is working on a hotter version of the new Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee SRT is supposedly in the works and will feature a more powerful engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel-drive.


Jaguar has unveiled the new Project 7 concept, which is going to have its world debut at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 12. The Project 7 concept is based on the F-Type, but gets a new front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, lowered windshield and restyled front bumper. The F-Type's interior has been swapped out and replaced with a single-seat with racing harness, a helmet holder and custom trim.

It's being reported that Kia wants to expand the successful Kia Soul and one possible direction is a new all-wheel-drive version, which is shown in this rendering that has leaked online. This photo could be our first look at a more rugged version of the Soul with its beefier body cladding, roof rack and off-road ready tires.


Jaguar is going to debut a new F-Type design study at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed that runs from July 11-14. Jaguar hasn't released any details other than stating that it will reveal the unique F-Type on the Goodwood Hill with the company's Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, Mike Cross behind the wheel.


Nissan has announced that it is going to install more than 100 DC quick chargers at Leaf-certified dealers across the US. The new addition is Nissan's latest effort to expand electric vehicle charging and also increase awareness of the Leaf electric vehicle.

The 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray has been rated at 17 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The 29 mpg highway rating means that the Corvette Stingray is the most fuel-efficient sports car on the market, since no other sports car offers more than 455 horsepower and at the same time is able to achieve 29 mpg.

Audi is Bringing Back the Quattro


Three decades after the original Quattro debuted, Audi is reportedly set to bring it back according to sources that spoke with Autoweek. It's being reported that the limited-production Quattro will aim to revive the spirit of the 1984 original and could debut this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The VW up! is supposed to be an affordable city car, but if you're hoping the all-electric version will be just as affordable, think again. VW has announced that the VW e-up! will start at €26,900 in Germany, which is around $34,500 based on today's conversion rates. Yeah not very cheap...

Porsche Builds the 500,000th Cayenne


After 11 years in production, Porsche has announced the production of the 500,000th Cayenne. When the Cayenne was launched back in 2002 it was unknown if Porsche fans would gravitate towards a Porsche SUV, but last year alone Porsche sold 83,000 units around the world. When it launched Porsche only produced around 70 units a day and today Porsche now produces five times that much due to the increased demand.

BMW Builds the Last M3 Coupe


The last ever BMW M3 Coupe has rolled off the line. In case you missed the news, BMW has officially changed the name of the former 3 Series coupe and convertible to the new 4 Series. This means that the next coupe will be dubbed the M4.

Volvo Previews its New Safety Technologies on the 2015 XC90


Volvo has released the early details on some of the new safety technologies that will be offered on the all-new 2015 XC90 crossover, which will debut at the end of 2014. "When the first XC90 was introduced in 2002, it featured a number of groundbreaking safety features, including a world-first solution that helps prevent rollovers. By revealing a number of systems for the next generation XC90 we once again confirm our leadership in automotive safety," says Thomas Broberg, Senior Safety Advisor Volvo Car Group.

Mazda has released the specs for the version of the 2014 Mazda6 that features Mazda's new regenerative engine braking system known as i-ELOOP. The i-ELOOP equipped Mazda6 is rated at 28 city/40 highway, which is slightly better than the non i-ELOOP equipped Mazda6 that is rated at 38 mpg on the highway.

BMW i3 EV Teased, Will Debut on July 29


BMW is going to officially unwrap the i3 EV this month on July 29th. While we wait until the end of the month, BMW has released this teaser of the i3, which shows that the production version will remain pretty close to the concept. The production version is expected to get tweaks like new bumpers, headlights and updates to the rear doors.


Audi is going to release a new 2014 Audi A8 by the end of the year and Audi has announced that it will arrive with Audi's new Matrix LED headlights. Audi Matrix LED technology splits up the LED high-beam headlights into numerous individual, small diodes working in conjunction with lenses or reflectors connected in series. Managed by a responsive control unit, they are activated and deactivated or dimmed individually according to the situation. This means they always supply high-precision illumination and achieve the maximum possible light yield without needing a pivoting mechanism.

2014 Ram 1500

Chrysler has released the details for the 2014 Ram 1500 pickup, which will offer a new 3.0L V6 diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing for the 2014 Ram 1500 starts at $25,295, while the V-6 EcoDiesel with TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission is priced $2,850 greater than a similarly equipped Ram 1500 with a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8.

GM Cancels Plans for a $100k Cadillac Sedan


GM has reportedly canceled plans for a ultraluxury Cadillac sedan. GM's execs recently decided that the rear-wheel-drive sedan that would have been priced over $100,000 would have been a low-volume model that didn't offer enough "brand-building pizzazz" to justify its development.
