The 2008 Saturn Vue Costs $3,300 More than its Predecessor


Saturn has released the pricing of its all-new 2008 Saturn Vue. The new SUV will start $3,295 higher than the model it is replacing. That means that the new Vue will start at $21,395, which is right in the price range of its main competitors.

Chrysler has announced that there will be a hybrid version of the Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango on the market in 2008. The SUVs will feature a Two-Mode hybrid system that was developed with GM and BMW, coupled with a 5.7L V8 HEMI engine with cylinder deactivation.


Spy photographers have managed to capture two more pictures of the upcoming M3 Sedan during testing. This is the first M3 sedan, since the E36 sedan a decade ago. Stylistically the new BMW M3 Sedan will be differentiated from the regular sedan. The sedan will feature the same front end as the recently unveiled M3 coupe.

GM has released a pic of GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner, Vice-Chairman Bob Lutz and Fritz Henderson standing in front of a production clay model of the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro. As you can tell the clay model that is being chiseled in the picture is very close to the concept version of the new Camaro. It is almost identical.

2008 Chevrolet Corvette Gets a New Engine and More Power


GM has officially unveiled the new 2008 Chevrolet Corvette C6, following an info leak earlier this week. The big news for the 08' year is that the car has received a new engine, a 6.2L V8 LS3 engine that puts out 36 more horsepower than the previous LS2 version.

Now that GM is the Number Two automaker in the world, many analysts are discussing what the automaker needs to do in order to get back on top. Alex Taylor at Fortune wrote an article on what he suggests the automaker do to gain back their title.

Things are Finally Looking up for Ford!

Ford has posted their Q1 2007 earnings. The net loss for Q1 was $282 million, which is a lot better than last year's loss of $1.4 billion for the same period. Cost-cutting and improved sales from their European and luxury brands helped to decrease the overall lose for the quarter.

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X...Almost Revealed


Mitsubishi has released the first images of a near-production Lancer Evolution X. The pictures are labeled as a "design study", but the car that we will see this fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show will look pretty close to this version.

Gas prices are expected to reach $4 a gallon in some parts of the U.S. this summer. Because of the ever increasing gas prices, automakers are expecting consumers to continue to flock to smaller more fuel efficient cars, such as the Mini or Honda Fit. Next year the Smart ForTwo will make it to these shores and GM has also shown three new small Chevy concepts at the New York Auto Show. Will these cars that are smaller than the current popular subcompact cars, such as the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris sell?

Road & Track has put together as many details that they could on the new 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and the Mitsubishi EVO X. They also posted pics of what they expect the cars to look like when they are released early next year.

Honda Profits Fall Even Though Sales Have Increased


Honda Motor Co. is forecasting a 3% drop in profit this year, even though the company expects their global car sales to increase 7.7 percent to a record 3.395 million vehicles. The company cites an expected rise in the yen, and a global shift to lower-margin small cars as a few of the reasons for the decline in profits.

There are rumors circulating that Audi is working on a smaller mid-engined sports car to compete with other cars such as the Porsche Boxster. The mid-engined car could use a more powerful version of the company's 2.0L turbo and a turbocharged 2.5L in-line five, which would be in an RS model.

Audi is not content with their current line up. They are set to double their model count by 2015. “We have 22 vehicles in the lineup already and the other 18 in our heads,” said Michael Dick, Audi’s Product Development Chief. Audi already has the new Q5 SUV, the A7 four-door coupe and the A1 compact car in the works. In addition the company is planning on making more variants of the upcoming A5 coupe.

Fiat May Re-Enter the U.S. by 2010 with the New Fiat 500


Fiat's recently revealed 500 has been a great success for the company and they expect to be sold out of the new small car until 2008. Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne recently stated that the car could make it to the U.S. by 2010.

Spy photographers have caught the new 2008 Chevrolet HHR SS during testing. Chevy has been very quiet on the details of this car. The car features bigger wheels, a bigger grille and the 2.0L 260 horsepower engine from the Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Red Line. The car seen here has very little camouflage and under the black tape you can actually make out the "SS" badge.

Saturn is Finally Back on the Radar


The once long-neglected GM division, Saturn is finally starting to make a comeback . Thanks to an influx of new models that have been supplied by Opel, the division is starting to finally see a surge in sales. Sales increased 20.5 percent during the first quarter of this year, which is a stark contrast to the other domestic automakers.

Honda has been working on the next NSX for quite a while. They released the Advanced Sports Car Concept earlier this year, but shortly after decided to go back to the drawing board to make the car more distinct. Now comes word that the automaker is trying to not only squeeze 500+ horsepower from a 5.0L non-turbo V10 engine, but also achieve 23.5 mpg.

Toyota is Number 1 for the First-Time Ever!


For the first time ever, Toyota has sold more cars and trucks worldwide than GM, in the first three months of this year. Toyota's sales for the first quarter rose 9% to a record 2.35 million compared to GM which only rose 3% to 2.26 million vehicles.

Well it seems that someone thinks that there is a market for a VW Beetle themed MP3 player. LG and VW have teamed to create a MP3 player that can hold either 2GB or 4GB of music, that was unveiled at the Seoul Auto Show this month. If you were hoping for an MP3 player that is shaped like a Beetle, then I am sorry to disappoint.

VW's Phaeton was not a success for VW in the U.S. The company planned on only selling 20,000 of them, but they only managed to sell a quarter of that amount when they pulled the car in 2005. Even with though the car barely managed to register on the sales screen, the company is moving forward with the next version of the car.

Everyone has heard about the housing crisis in the U.S. that is being caused by the mortgage industry meltdown. Well now Vice Chairman of GM Bob Lutz, says that it is effecting the auto industry as well.

Hyundai has announced plans to sell its new i30 wagon in the U.S. sometime in early 2008. The 2008 Hyundai Elantra Wagon will be positioned as a "sporty handling vehicle" according to Wayne Killen, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor America.

Apparently the GTI is too important to Volkswagen of America and they are not willing to cannibalize sales of the hatchback by bringing the Scirocco hatchback here. The original Scirocco was very popular in the U.S.

HUMMER Confirms that the H4 will be Released in 2010


Hummer's general manager, Martin Walsh has confirmed that the smaller than an H3, H4 will be released in 2010. "Our growth will be downwards in terms of size." There could also be a smaller model than the H4, if there is demand for it.

According to a report by the Automotive News, between September 2006 and February 2007, 48.5% of Chrysler brand sales were to fleets. That is an increase of 10% from the same period a year ago. 44.9% of Pontiac sales go to fleets, which is slightly lower than the 46.2% from the year earlier.

Apparently Honda is having this exact dilemma in Canada. New Canadian regulations have been imposed that give buyers of fuel-efficient vehicles a $1,000 rebate. If the vehicle falls below the fuel-economy threshold of 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers, the car is eligible for the rebate.

According to a study by the SUV Owners of America, SUVs are safer than passenger cars by 5-7 percent. The study consisted of 1997-2005 vehicles.

In Eastern Europe and India automakers are already selling cars for $7,000, which is far below the lowest priced car in the U.S. Cars such as the Renault Logan and Hyundai Santro are selling very well. The plant that produces the Logan is running 24 hours a day just to keep up with demand.

BMW has unveiled the new CS Concept, which is designed as a 4-door coupe to go head to head with Mercedes, Porsche and Maserati. The car is going to be officially unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. More Spy Photos of the 2009 Mazda 6



Spy photographers have caught the new 2009 Mazda 6 during testing. The new car is bigger and more curvacious than the current model. As you can tell the new car will adopt many of the current styling themes of the current Mazda lineup. There is no word on the engine lineup, although there are rumors that the car will ride on the same platform as the new Ford Mondeo and Volvo S80. Also expect to see a version of Ford's 3.5L V6 under the hood.

Ford Quality is on Par with Toyota and Nissan?


Apparently Ford's quality is now on par with Toyota and Nissan, according to a new report released today. The RDA Group has released a report on the quality of 2007 model year vehicles. The group concluded that Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles have the same quality levels as Toyota and Nissan in the first-quarter 2007 model-year Global Quality Research System report.

Lincoln is finally working on new products for their aging line-up. This car is a prototype of the 2009 Lincoln MKS, which is bigger than the current MKZ. The MKS was first shown as a concept at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. The production version looks like it is going to retain many of the main details of the concept version.

Chrysler has announced plans to build new plants in Michigan and to upgrade existing plants. The company is planning on building three new plants and upgrading their Warren stamping plant.

Ethanol-Based Fuel is Worse for Humans than Regular Gas!


According to a new study, ethanol-based fuels (E85) are just as harmful or worse than regular fuel to humans. The study was directed by Stanford Associate Professor Mark Jacobson, at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. According to Jacobson ethanol does decrease some of the pollutants, but it also increases others.

More Spy Photos of the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe


Last week a driver caught the first pictures of the new 2008 Honda Accord Coupe during testing. Those pictures were taken with a camera phone, so they were not very clear. Now the professional spy photographers have also caught the coupe during testing. Toyota Prius Fails Emissions Test!


Apparently the environmentally friendly Toyota Prius has failed emissions tests in the state of Georgia. 2007 is the first year that drivers of the 2004 Prius are required to get emissions tests and drivers of the cars are finding out they are not passing the tests.

It seems like every week there is a new story about the current gas issue. Well now comes word that a legislator in California, US is proposing that the state should tax gas guzzling vehicles. The higher taxes on the gas-guzzling vehicles would then go to those people that buy fuel-efficient vehicles like the Toyota Prius.

U.S. Automakers Continue to Lose Market Share


In the first quarter of this year, fewer than 50% of Americans that bought new cars, bought from domestic brands. 48.9% of Americans bought cars and trucks from Ford, GM or Chrysler. This is down from last year and represents a continued downward slide for the domestic automakers.

Texting While Driving Could Soon be Against the Law


Everyone already knows the apparent risks of driving while talking on a hand-held cell phone. Honda Attempts to Diversify its Workforce

Honda is going to build a new plant in Greensburg, Indiana to build 200,000 Honda Civics per year. The plant is expected to start production in the fall of 2008. According to an Automotive News story, the automaker is concerned about a lack of diversity in the upcoming city.

Lexus has just released the pricing for its newest hybrid, the 2008 Lexus LS 600h L Hybrid. The car is going to have a base price of $104,750, which is much higher than the $71,715 base price of the non-hybrid version.

2008 Volvo C30 Will Start Under $23K!


Volvo has released pricing for the 2008 Volvo C30 that will go on sale in the U.S. this coming October. The C30 Version 1.0 will start at $22,700 and comes standard with the turbocharged T5 five-cylinder producing 227hp, a 160 watt stereo, 17" wheels and power windows.

Volkswagen has unveiled the new 2008 Touareg 2 at the New York Auto Show. This is a very mild refreshening of their mid-size SUV. The new version features revised headlights, dark-tinted brake lights and a new chrome grille that is similar to the other VWs.

Lexus introduced its new 2008 Lexus LX570 to the world today at the New York Auto Show. The most notable cahnge besides its styling is the name change from LX470 to LX570.

World Car Fans has posted spy photos of the upcoming Mini Clubman S. There have been numerous spy photos of the regular version of the upcoming car, but this is the first time we are seeing what seems to be the S variant of the car.

Recently Hyundai released photos of their upcoming rwd sedan, the Genesis concept car. This car is the automaker's first attempt at trying to sell a "premium" vehicle.
