Automotive News is reporting that VW is going to bring the much desired Golf GTD diesel to the US, which will be VW’s first performance oriented diesel in the US.
Diesel fans will love this news! Automotive News is reporting that VW is going to bring the much desired Golf GTD diesel to the US, which will be VW’s first performance oriented diesel in the US. The Golf GTD is basically a diesel-powered GTI, since it borrows its suspension from the iconic hatchback.
The Golf GTD is powered by a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder with 184 hp and 280 lb-ft. of torque. VW estimates that it will reach 0-60 mph in around seven seconds, but at the same time it will get more than 40 mpg. The Golf GTD isn’t expected to arrive in the US until sometime in 2015 as a 2016 model with a price tag around $27,000.
