Want something even more special than the Volkswagen Golf R? Well VW is reportedly considering the idea of offering the Golf R Performance in the United States, according to VW Vortex.

The Golf R Performance recently launched in Europe with a Akrapovic exhaust system, bigger brakes and a few aerodynamic upgrades. During the launch for the updated 2018 Golf in Michigan, VW Vortex asked VW directly if there are any plans to bring the Golf R Performance to the United States. According to product specialist Megan Garbis, VW is currently evaluating the idea.

“That would be really fun,” Garbis stated. “I don’t know right now if we have the option to bring over to the United States, but it’s obviously something that we’re evaluating.”

The biggest question that VW is trying to figure out is if there will be demand for the VW Golf R Performance in the US.

“It’s just a matter of evaluating is there a market for it, how much would it cost etc, etc,” Garbis stated. “And performing against other aftermarket options, it’s obviously pretty good.”

While that’s definitely not a confirmation, there is a slight chance that the Golf R Performance could one day show up here.
