2020 can’t come soon enough, since that’s the year that Volkswagen is planning on introducing the first of its several new electric cars. We’ve already seen one preview with the Budd-e concept and now the new I.D. concept previews a new electric hatchback.

The I.D. concept is debuting this week at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It’s about the same size as the Golf and features a 167-hp electric motor. VW hasn’t mentioned all the specific details, but the concept also has a driving range up to 373 miles on a single charge. The concept can also be recharged up to 80 percent in around 15 minutes.
When the production version arrives, VW says it will be the first of several new models that will all be built on its new dedicated MEB platform. This platform is also going to be used for the production version of the Budd-e concept, plus other electric models, like a new sedan, sports car and even an SUV.
