Following yesterday’s release of the Audi TT Clubsport Concept, VW has revealed the uber fast Golf GTI W12 650 Concept. The ultimate GTI has a top speed of 201 mph (325 km/h) and a 0-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
The concept puts out 650 horsepower and 530 lb. ft of torque from a 6.0L biturbo W12 engine that is mounted behind the front seats. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels.
The design of the car is lower and wider than the stock version. The concept uses the doors, hood and headlights from the stock version, but everything else is new. The C columns of the car were redesigned to supply air to the large 6.0L engine.
Too bad this car is just a design study and we will never see this in showrooms.
