The new Volvo XC40 crossover is going to debut in a few weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Volvo has teased a few interior bits of the new XC40 and we’ve already seen a leaked photo on Instagram. Now Volvo has revealed more about the interior of the XC40.

On the outside the XC40 will be a small crossover as it will be the smallest crossover in Volvo’s lineup, that includes the XC60 and XC90 models. Even with the small size, Volvo has worked hard to find unique ways to maximize space in the small interior. For example, in order to provide better storage space in the doors of the new XC40, Volvo designers decided to move the speakers from the door and developed a world-first, air-ventilated dashboard-mounted sub-woofer. With the door speakers now gone, Volvo created enough storage in the door compartment for a laptop and a tablet, or a couple of water bottles.

There are also a list of other unique tricks, like a small fold-away hook in the glove compartment that lets you secure small shopping bags and both front seats offer a storage space under the seat. The XC40 also offers slots for credit cards that can be neatly inserted into the dashboard and under the armrest there is a large storage area with room for a tissue box.

In the trunk, the XC40 includes a fold-up trunk divider with two hooks to help secure shopping bags along with four load hooks to make loading luggage easier. A private locking storage compartment has also been added under the load floor.

Volvo XC40 Teaser Leak

“A lot we have done with the XC40 is based on extensive consumer insight. With the XC40, we declare the end of clutter, making sure that everything is within arms-reach but also out of sight. It’s about clearing the clutter so you can clear your mind,”
