All-wheel drive Volvos will now be offered with a new Polestar-developed software upgrade that increases torque distribution to the rear wheels, to improve the driving experience.

The new software upgrade increases the amount and frequency of torque distributed to the rear wheels, which improves the steering with enhanced turn-in, adds better control and engagement when cornering, and improves the overall traction when pulling away from a stop.

“We are always fine-tuning the driving experience of Volvo cars and this upgrade makes the all-wheel drive both smoother and more dynamic,” said Henrik Green, senior vice president of research and development at Volvo Cars.

To access the upgrade, the driver simply has to select the Dynamic driving mode or turn off the electronic stability control. The software upgrade is available on the 90 Series, 60 Series and XC40.
