The 2021 Volvo S90 and V90 models are getting a small refresh and a new 48 volt mild-hybrid powertrain.
On the outside you’ll probably have a hard time seeing the new design details, but the refreshed S90 and V90 do get updated front fascias, with new fog lights, a new spoiler design and a new lower front bumper. At the rear the 2021 V90 and V90 Cross Country also get new LED taillights.
Inside the changes are even smaller with the biggest update being an upgraded Bowers and Wilkins audio system with an upgraded amplifier and automatic vehicle noise cancellation. Volvo also says that the audio system has a new setting that mimics the sound of your favorite jazz club. There’s also an air purifier with a sensor that lets drivers monitor interior air quality via the infotainment system.
Lastly new double USB-C charging points in the rear, replace the former 12 volt outlets and there’s wireless charging for your cell phone.
Under the hood the 2021 S90 and V90 are available with a new 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain that provides a 15 per cent fuel savings and emission reductions in real world driving. The plug-in hybrid versions have also get the Recharge name that originally debuted on the fully-electric XC40.
