Volkswagen is ramping up its crossover lineup with the introduction of the Atlas Cross Sport, but it’s not stopping there. VW has confirmed that it’s currently working on two new small SUVs that will slot in below the Tiguan in its US lineup.

Volkswagen T-Cross

Volkswagen Group of America CEO Scott Keogh confirmed the news to The Detroit Bureau. Both models will be smaller than the Tiguan, with one being an entry-level model and the other slotting just above that. According to Keogh there is “a massive opportunity for SUVs in the A-Segment.”

The new models will give VW a rival to other small SUVs, like the Hyundai Kona, Nissan Kicks and Honda HR-V. VW does offer other smaller SUVs in other markets, like the T-Cross and T-Roc, but it’s hasn’t been confirmed if one of those models will be offered in the US.
