It’s being reported that Volkswagen will give us a preview of its future flagship electric SUV in April, with the debut of the I.D. Lounge. VW hasn’t released any big details about the I.D. Lounge, but according to Autocar, it will debut at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show.

VW I.D. Concepts

The VW I.D. Lounge will be the flagship of VW’s future electric lineup, with three rows of seats to give it room for up to seven passengers. The I.D. Lounge will be based on the MEB platform with an exterior that’s about the same size as the VW Touareg.

It’s expected that the I.D. Lounge will be powered by two electric motors with around 369 horsepower. The electric motors will get their power from a 111 kWh lithium ion battery that will give it a driving range around 372 miles.

When the production version of the I.D. Lounge arrives, VW will then offer three electric SUVs. The production version of the I.D. Crozz is expected to arrive in 2021. A second version of the I.D. Crozz will be released in 2022, which will eventually be followed by the I.D. Lounge.
