We already knew that Volkswagen plans to reveal the eighth-generation Golf GTI at the Geneva Motor Show next month and now we have our first teaser of the new hot hatch.

The 2021 Golf GTI will take the stage in Geneva alongside the new Golf GTD. From this teaser we can see that just like before the new Golf GTi will have a slightly more aggressive front fascia compared to the standard Golf. It also keeps the red stripe in the radiator that we’ve come to expect from the GTI as well as the plaid seats.

We know that the new GTI will again be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but VW has kept the official specs under wraps. Fortunately a leak revealed that the new GTI will arrive with 242 horsepower, which is a slight bump up from the current 228 horsepower in the 2020 GTI.

On the tech front, the new GTI will also be available with VW’s new Travel Assist system, which can take over the steering, accelerating and braking at speeds up to 131 mph on the highway. Inside the interior will look more modern with fully digital displays.
