The e-up! is powered by a 81 horsepower electric motor and a 18.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. According to VW, the e-up! reaches 0-62 mph in 14 seconds and has a top speed of 84 mph. Although the e-up! only has a 93 mile range, it has a Combined Charging System, which supports both DC and AC charging, so that drivers can easily charge their cars at most charging stations – regardless of the power sources or charging rates that they offer. The e-up! can be recharged to as much as 80 percent of its energy storage capacity within 30 minutes.
