Toyota has announced that it’s working on a new TNGA small car platform, called the GA-B platform. The new platform is smaller than the current GA-C platform that’s used by models like the C-HR and Corolla, which means it could likely be used for the next-generation Yaris.

The GA-B platform has been designed to to be used with different wheelbase lengths, heights and track widths to give designers more freedom to create models of different sizes and body types. The platform uses a MacPherson strut front suspension with low-friction dampers and can accommodate different spring types. At the rear, the platform allows for either torsion beam or multi-link rear suspension systems.

Just like the rest of the models on Toyota’s TNGA platform, there’s an emphasis on driving enjoyment. The GA-B platform features a low driver’s seat that’s pushed towards the back center of the car, helping lower the vehicle’s center of gravity. The wheels have also been pushed to the corners of the platform to maximize the amount of interior space.
