Now that the 2019 Corolla hatchback has officially ditched the old Scion part of its name, the 2019 Yaris has followed suit. Toyota has unveiled the 2019 Toyota Yaris sedan, which ditches the old “iA” portion of its name and now offers more features.
The 2019 Yaris sedan will be offered in three trim levels L, LE, and the new premium XLE trim. The XLE trim level makes the Yaris sedan feel a little bit more luxurious with leatherette-trimmed front seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake, Automatic Climate Control, automatic LED headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
To go along with the name change, the 2019 Yaris sedan gets a few styling upgrades. At the front, the grille gets a honeycomb insert design and fog lights are standard on LE and XLE trim levels. Piano black accents and chrome trim have also been added to the exterior, while the LE and XLE trim levels also gets a new rear lip spoiler. The 2019 Yaris sedan will be offered in seven colors that include Frost, Chromium, Graphite, Stealth, Sapphire, Pulse and the new Icicle.
The 2019 Yaris sedan is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 106 horsepower and 103 lb.-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder can be mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. With the 6-speed automatic transmission, the Yaris gets 32 mpg in the city, and 40 mpg on the highway. The six-speed manual is slightly less efficient at 30 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.
Lastly all Yaris sedans comes standard with an Active Safety System and Low-Speed Pre-Collision System.
