Although Toyota has yet to make an official decision about a droptop version of the GT 86/Scion FR-S coupe, there are new reports that a sedan version may be in the works. If the rumors are true, the GT86 sedan’s wheelbase will be about 100 mm longer than the coupe to make room for the rear passengers. The sedan’s styling will also be slightly different than the coupe with a “keen-look” grille design.
The sedan will still be offered with the same 2.0L boxer engine as the coupe, but a new hybrid version will also be available. The hybrid powertrain could have around 270 horsepower, but at the same time it will be 10-15% more fuel efficient than the 2.0L engine.
If the rumors are true, the GT 86 sedan will arrive sometime in 2015 or 2016, but we will get to see a preview as early as the Geneva Motor Show next March.
