Audi has unveiled the e-tron quattro concept, which is a preview of its new electric SUV that is going to arrive in early 2018.

Electric vehicles seem to be making all the headlines so far at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and the VW group is part of the news with its new plug-in concepts. Audi has unveiled the e-tron quattro concept, which is a preview of its new electric SUV that is going to arrive in early 2018.

With three electric motors, the e-tron quattro concept packs 429 horsepower and a max 590 lb-ft. of torque. With one electric motor powering the front axle and two powering the rear, the e-tron quattro concept sprints from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds before it reaches its electronically-limited top speed of 130.5 mph. A large lithium-ion battery is located in the floor of the passenger compartment and gives the e-tron quattro concept a driving range of 310 miles.

A 150-kW DC charging outlet can recharge the e-tron quattro in about 50 minutes or you can recharge the concept’s battery using wireless induction charging.

“Audi will present an all-electric, luxury-class sport SUV in early 2018. The Audi e‑tron quattro concept provides a concrete foretaste of this,” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Audi Board of Management for Technical Development. “It combines driving pleasure with great range, an expressive design and excellent comfort.”
