We’re still waiting for that $35,000 Tesla Model 3, but now it’s being reported that Tesla, next model, the Model Y will also start below $40,000. We have yet to see the Tesla Model Y crossover, but some new reports have surfaced about what we can expect.

Tesla Model Y teaser

For starters we already know that the Tesla Model Y will share its DNA with the Model 3. Since the Model Y will ride on the same platform as the Model 3, Tesla will be able to keep its pricing in check, although the Model Y will likely cost a bit more.

According to a tweet from The Tesla Show, the Model Y will only be offered with all-wheel drive and the base version will have a driving range around 250 miles. If the report is true, the Model Y will also arrive with Level 4 autonomous driving capability.

Elon Musk also confirmed that the Model Y will be produced in Shanghai and the US. The base versions will be built in China, while higher trim levels will be production in the US.

For now we’ll have to wait and see if the reports are accurate. It’s been reported that the Tesla Model Y will debut this March. Another report also claims that the Model Y will be offered with three rows of seats.
