We’re still waiting for the $35,000 Tesla Model 3 to arrive, but if you’re looking for an even more affordable Tesla electric car, it might happen soon. Elon Musk recently sat down with YouTuber Marques Brownlee, where he revealed that a $25,000 Tesla electric car could arrive in “about 3 years.”

Marques Brownlee asked Elon Musk about the idea of introducing an EV that would be more affordable than the Model 3, in which he replied, “To get ultimately to something like a $25,000 car, that’s something we could do, but that’s probably 3 years away if we work really hard.”

This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about a more affordable Tesla, but this is the first time that Musk has hinted at a timeframe for it. Elon Musk also mentioned the possibility of Tesla moving even more down market with a new compact vehicle. Either way, for now a $25,000 electric car isn’t Tesla’s priority. It’s goal for now is to bring the Model Y, Tesla Semi, Tesla Pickup and the next-generation Roadster to market. Speaking of the Roadster, Musk also hinted that it may get removable side mirrors to improve its aerodynamics.
