Production of the Tesla Model X crossover was supposed to begin later this year, but Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has announced that production has been delayed until the second quarter of 2015.
This isn’t the first time that the Model X crossover has been delayed, but it’s expected that limited battery supplies are the cause of the latest delay. Even production of the Model S has been hampered by battery supply issues, which should be resolved later this year.

Tesla has also announced that it is going to break ground on the first of two Gigafactorys next month. Tesla hasn’t announced where the plant will be located, but Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas are pegged as possible sites. Even California may also be in the running, since California Gov. Jerry Brown and state lawmakers are pushing for it.
