Tesla Model S Tops the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf in Q1

The sales numbers have been finalized for the first quarter of this year and with that it’s now being reported that the Tesla Model S outsold the Chevy Volt in Q1 in North America.

The sales numbers have been finalized for the first quarter of this year and with that it’s now being reported that the Tesla Model S outsold the Chevy Volt in Q1 in North America. Tesla expects to report that it sold 4,750 Model S sedans in the US and Canada, which beats the 4,421 units of the Chevy Volt that were sold during the same period. The Tesla Model S also beat the Nissan Leaf, since Nissan only sold 3,695 units.
“Any success for a company in this space is helpful for all other makers of plug-in vehicles,” said Jim Cain, a spokesman for General Motors. “The single most important thing we can do for plug-ins, to encourage sales, is to have them on the road.”

Tesla also recently announced that it is building a fleet of top of the line Model S and Roadster loaners for owners when they need to have their Tesla serviced. The loaners will also be available for purchase at a discounted rate, if a Tesla owners decides that they like the loaner better than their current model. The Model S loaners will be available for immediate purchase at a price that is lower by 1 percent per month of age and $1 per mile. Tesla will also seamlessly valet the loaner cars to your location.
