Two years ago Subaru trademarked the “Evoltis” name, which at the time we thought might be used for its first plug-in hybrid. Well that wasn’t true, since it ended up just being called the Crosstrek Hybrid. Now there are rumors that the Evoltis name will be used by the brand’s first electric vehicle, an electric SUV.

Japanese website Response is reporting that new Subaru EV that’s being developed together with Toyota, will be called the Subaru Evoltis. If the report is accurate we’ll get to to see it debut at the 2021 Tokyo Motor Show.

The new electric SUV is just one electric vehicle that’s in the works, since the new platform that Subaru and Toyota are developing will be used for midsize and large electric vehicles.
