A new report claims that Subaru is working on a new high powered hatchback that will compete in the 2020 World Rally Championship. The new hot hatch will be smaller than the Impreza and compete against other small hatchbacks, like the Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris.
According to the report from Japan’s Response, the high performance hatchback is also going to be aimed at Europe’s popular hatchback segment. Sources also claim that the hatchback’s design will be inspired by the Viziv concepts and under the hood it may get a turbocharged 1.8L four-cylinder engine.
While we wish that the rumor is true, Subaru hasn’t made any mentions of it. But if it is true, 2020 is just around the corner, so we might find out sooner than later if a new Subaru hot hatch is coming.
