Subaru has unveiled the Subaru Viziv hybrid crossover concept today at the Geneva Motor Show. According to Subaru, the concept shows off Subaru’s future design direction in addition to highlighting new technologies.
The Viziv name is a coined word inspired by the phrase “Vision for Innovation” to express Subaru’s future vision of innovation and the future direction of the brand. The Viziv is a two-door four-seater crossover with unique doors that move upward to provide access to the front and rear seats.
Under the hood the Viziv concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 2.0-litre Subaru Boxer diesel engine and high-torque-compatible Lineartronic (CVT) with a front motor that provides both vehicle drive and power generation, and two independent electric rear motors power the rear wheels. The electric motors start and drive the vehicle during low-speed or city driving, while the diesel engine and high-efficiency Lineartronic take over on the highway.
